You might remember Kathia from our blog about The Kiddos coffee last year. That coffee was super popular and such a fun and unique offering, we knew we wanted to source some more coffee from Kathia. We missed out on our chance to get more of The Kiddos, but we were able to snag one of our dream coffees

Let me explain:

Last year we visited Chicago for the Specialty Coffee Association Expo. We joined the IWCA Breakfast to learn more and support women in coffee.
The coffee served at the breakfast was extraordinary - sweet, a little tart, so smooth. We discovered it was from our own Costa Rica friends and farmers, Kathia Zamora from Cloza Estate. It was grown on her family farm and imported by Marianella from Farmers Project, making it a true team effort.
"Next year we're getting some of that!" we declared.
It was incredibly moving to see Marianella and Kathia being honored at the breakfast, a testament to their years of hard work and teamwork, both of those things inseparable from their success. These women are long time members of IWCA Costa Rica, and the first example of 100% IWCA members - women led coffee value chain making coffee available in the USA. We're proud to continue this woman-owned coffee value chain going here in Kenosha!
In addition, keeping the spirit of coffee as relationship, this special coffee is a microlot that was created to surprise Kathia's Dad (Don Clodoveo) to honor his 50+ years in farming coffee. When he saw the bag, he was very emotional and proud. Kathia has been managing the family farm since 2001 but continues to show deep appreciation for the land, for the coffee, imparted by her father.
Supporting women in coffee who have such a rich love for legacy is integral to us. Supporting women in coffee who have the capacity to look both backward and forward, honoring the past and building for the future, is how we can continue making coffee sustainable, fair, beautiful.
We're so grateful for Kathia and her family and the chance to share their coffee with you.
