What you won't find in our coffee

Your cup of coffee is literally JUST the good stuff

Have you ever wondered about what exactly goes into that little bag of beans? We made a list of what you definitely will not find.

1. Artificial Flavorings

If you check out the front of our coffee bags, you'll see some flavors listed: milk chocolate, cherry, smooth, balanced, stone fruit, cranberry...etc. These are all just notes that are inherent in the coffee - nothing added! Here's some more information on tasting notes if you're interested. 

2. Chemically Based Decaffeination (never Methylene Chloride)

We use Swiss Water Process or Mountain Water Process for our decaf, a more natural and better tasting alternative to MC. 

3. Additives or Fillers

You might be surprised to find that blends or flavored coffees sometimes have additives like chicory, maltodextrin, instant coffee powder or other non-coffee substances. Not here! Juuuust the good stuff.

4. Mold / Mycotoxins

While we don't test for this (so we don't advertise our coffee as mold-free) we know the conditions that creates mold growth, and we know our coffee doesn't live in those conditions. Properly stored and processed beans and relationships to committed farmers mean that we feel confident our coffee is clean. Learn more about mold and coffee quality here.

5. Over-Roasted, Defect-Hiding Blends

Not an additive, but worth calling out: many commercial coffees are roasted super dark in order to mask defects, mold, or poor quality. We've got nothing to hide! In fact, we roast to bring out what is inherent in the bean while also occasionally roasting a bean that is well-suited to more development to a darker roast for those customers who like something extra toasty.  

6. Undisclosed or Commodity Blends (100% traceable origin)

What you see on the bag is what you get. We're not about sneaking low quality coffee into our blends in order to fill it out.
