This is the second iteration of our popular decaf coffee, Midnight Hero. It's not your typical decaf coffee. It's a naturally-decaffeinated coffee that tastes GREAT!
An excellent medium roast, this coffee functions super well as a breakfast blend style decaf coffee for those decaf lovers that still want something exceptional. Smooth and nutty with hints of red berry, it's a sweet and balanced option that will leave you wondering how you ever drank anything else.
Most of the rotating decaf offerings are Mountain or Swiss Water Process. These coffees are decaffeinated using pure spring water. Each batch of beans is steamed to create a green coffee extract, which is passed through a filter to remove only the caffeine content, then re-introduced to the green coffee. This process retains all the flavor and nuance inherent to the green coffee while removing 99% of the naturally occurring caffeine, all without the use of chemical additives or solvents.
Occasionally we'll bring in a really yummy decaf that is processed with Ethyl Acetate. EA is a naturally occurring organic compound found in many fruits and vegetables. There are natural and synthetic forms of EA, and we choose coffees processed with only the natural byproduct from sugar cane, which helps preserve the integrity of the coffee while giving you an excellent decaf brew.
