One Year Anniversary!
It's our birthday month at East View Coffee Company! Forgive us as we get a little misty eyed and sentimental looking back on these last years. We opened our tasting room December of 2023 and East View Coffee began back in December of 2020. We're growing up!
In this little love letter, we wanted specifically to mark the occasion of one year in the Downtown Kenosha Tasting Room. This physical location that has come to mean so much to us (and, we hope, to you!). Of course, we spent months in the space before December covered in paint, dust, coffee, tears, etc. The journey to the Tasting Room was full of challenges and learning curves and invaluable help from many unseen faces.
Opening the doors and welcoming our first customers felt so triumphant. We could finally share coffee with you! The funny thing about opening a Tasting Room in this community is that we worked hard to create this gorgeous, inviting space, eager to welcome you, but truly (stop, no, I'm not getting emotional) WE were the ones that felt welcomed and upheld by the incredibly special Kenosha folks.
Along the way we've had some ideas flop, some dreams delayed, but we're continuing to grow into the vision we cast at the beginning - a hospitable space anchored in kindness, because we know that small, kind acts transform lives.
This means that we're able to continue to work in a tip-free environment, paying our employees more so they are not beholden to the whims of customers or inevitable slow days.
It means we're continuing to support our community partners by Powering the Good, providing coffee for employees and volunteers of valuable non-profits in our area.
It means we get to see the skills of the people who work for East View unfold and see them chase their passions and cultivate a creative, supportive culture.
We are able to continue to uphold environmental commitments as well as brainstorm new ways to steward this amazing planet. We're composting as much as we can, as well as offering a loyalty punch card strictly for reusable mugs, rewarding sustainable choices and moving away from excess waste.
We continue to source the majority of our coffee from women producers, looking to partner with more direct relationship farms in 2025.
A lot has changed - our menu, our 12oz bags. We have shirts now! We have a lot more plants! We're baking some treats and roasting our own chocolate.
But the things that have stayed the same are even more important to us. Through all the growth and fun things to come, we remain committed to empowerment, sustainability, community. Thanks for sharing our vision and brewing a brighter future. We're doing it together! Let's keep this thing going?
