El Tambo

I enjoy it first thing in the morning. It’s smooth but not bland and tasteless. I’m not a coffee reviewer. I have tasted many different coffees including Starbucks, Colectivo, Intelligentsia, Caribou, Peets, and local brands but this is one of the best!! I’ll buy it again! But I like the taste. It’s better than

Great coffee!

One of the best coffees we've had from East View Coffee! Smooth and fits the style and flavor notes description perfectly.

Colombia | Women-owned farms | Fair Trade

You love classic coffee comfort and a classic coffee origin. Colombia has a reputation for a reason: you'll often find just what you're looking for when you taste a cup from Colombia.

Maybe you'll get even more than you're looking for - like this one, which boasts being Fair Trade and women-produced in addition to being a dang fine cup.

This particular coffee is named for the city where the women who produce this coffee live, in El Tambo.

Your cup is brought to you by the ASMUCAFE coop. ASMUCAFE stands for Asociación de Mujeres Agropecuarias de Uribe, an organization of women farmers and landowners in El Tambo, a municipality within Cauca. The women's mission as an association is to improve their families' quality of life through coffee farming and to contribute positively to their community by working together and sharing resources, knowledge, and support. "Our work is determined by our values such as responsibility, honesty, commitment, respect, solidarity, and competitiveness," they say.

The coffee, all of which is of Castillo or Colombia variety, is picked as purple (Castillo) or bright red (Colombia) cherry, and undergoes a somewhat unusual "double" fermentation process, as the women describe it: First, the cherries are left in the loading hoppers for 14 hours, then they are depulped in the afternoons and evening hours and placed into traditional open fermentation tanks for another 10 hours. Then they are washed three to four times before being dried either in parabolic dryers or in the sun for 8–12 days.
